Texas Landmarks

Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 8, 2026  ·  Version 1.0
Texas Landmarks is a simple, offline app for discovering historical markers across the Lone Star State. This policy explains exactly what data the app accesses, how it is used, and what is never collected or shared.

The Short Version

Texas Landmarks does not collect, store, transmit, or share your personal data. Everything stays on your device.

No analytics No advertising No third-party SDKs No server communication Fully offline No account required

Location

Texas Landmarks requests access to your device's location to power its core features:

Your location is processed entirely on-device. It is never transmitted to any server, logged, stored outside the app, or shared with any third party.

Notifications

If you enable background notifications, the app uses your location to trigger local alerts when you are near a landmark. These notifications are generated on your device — no data leaves your phone to make this work.

You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings → Texas Landmarks → Notifications.

App Settings & Preferences

Your in-app preferences (search radius, notification distance, direction filter, etc.) are saved locally on your device using iOS standard storage. This data never leaves your device.

Landmark Data

All 13,000+ Texas historical landmark records are bundled directly with the app. The app makes no network requests to fetch or update landmark data. There is no account, no sync, and no cloud storage of any kind.

Apple Maps

Tapping "Get Directions" opens Apple Maps with the landmark's name and coordinates. At that point, Apple's own privacy policy governs how Maps handles that request. Texas Landmarks passes only the destination coordinates — no personal data.

Children's Privacy

Texas Landmarks does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Because no data is collected at all, the app is safe for users of any age.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the new version will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. Significant changes will also be noted in the App Store release notes.
